Executive Summary
Legislation requiring fragrance labeling of "known toxic substance" and "known allergen" ingredients introduced into House Commerce Committee Sept. 21 by Rep. Janice Schakowsky (D-Ill.). Supported by the Environmental Health Network (Larkspur, Calif.), the bill would amend Sect 602 of the FD&C Act to require fragrances containing known toxic substances or allergens to "bear labeling stating that fact and the common or usual name of such" substance. Schakowsky will introduce the bill next session if it is not acted upon by the close of Congress.
