Bill Blass dies at 79

Executive Summary

Fashion designer passes away June 12 from cancer, according to fashion house. Blass, who began designing clothes under his own name in 1960 when he worked for the Maurice Rentner fashion house, also lent his name to fragrances, currently marketed under a licensing agreement by Five Star Fragrances. Bill Blass was introduced in 1978, but the brand was not extended with another fragrance until 1999, when Amazing Bill Blass debuted, followed by a men's version in 2000 (1"The Rose Sheet" March 8, 1999, p. 12 and 2"The Rose Sheet" Feb. 21, 2000, p. 5).
