Market research firm will begin tracking prestige beauty sales in China, the company announces. NPD will monitor fragrance, makeup and skin care and deliver quarterly reports on sales volume and market share based on business at 32 stores in the country. By next year, NPD will expand its data collection to more than 50 department stores in 10 cities. Subscribers to the service will receive quarterly reports with monthly data from January 2007 forward broken down by category, attribute (such as whitening), product and brand.
